Aim
To provide a national certification in the instruction and administration of the Paddle Canada Sea Kayaking Level 4 skills course.

The Sea Kayaking Instructor Level 4 is certified to:

• Conduct Paddle Canada Flatwater Kayaking, Sea Kayaking Level 1, 2, 3 and 4 skills courses and to certify paddlers at those level.
• Assist Level 4 Instructors on a Level 4 skills course

• Conduct Paddle Canada Flatwater Kayaking and Sea Kayaking Level 1, 2, 3 and 4 skills courses and to certify paddlers at that level.
• Assist a Level 3 Instructor Trainer on a Level 3 Instructor course.

• At least 18 years of age
• Paddle Canada Sea Kayaking Level 4 skills certification
• Current certification in Wilderness First Aid and CPR (40 hours)
• Significant paddling experience in a wide variety of conditions and locations

Course Length
Sea Kayaking Instructor Level 4 is achieved through the mentorship process.

Location
Open coast with infrequent and sometimes difficult landing options.

Conditions
Strong winds (near 20 knots). Combined sea state 1-metre or better with a moderate to rough sea state.
Surf >=1 metre. Current >= 3 knots.

Assessment
Assessment must be conducted by a minimum of two Level 3 Instructor Trainers
