Aim
To provide a national certification in the instruction and administration of the Paddle Canada Level-3 Sea Kayaking Skills course.

The Sea Kayaking Instructor Level 3 is certified to:

• Conduct Paddle Canada Flatwater Kayaking, Sea Kayaking Level 1, 2 and 3 Skills courses and to certify paddlers at those levels.
• Assist Level 4 Instructors on a Level 4 Skills course.
• Assist a Level 2 Instructor Trainer on a Level 2 Instructor course.

• At least 18 years of age
• Paddle Canada Sea Kayaking Level 4 Skills certification.
• Current certification in Wilderness First Aid and CPR (40 hours).
• Significant paddling experience in a wide variety of conditions and locations

Course Length
Sea Kayaking Instructor Level 3 is achieved through the mentorship process.

Location
Exposed coastline with frequent landing opportunities

Conditions
Moderate winds (12-19 knots) Combined sea state near 1-metre with a moderate, occasionally rough sea state.
Surf near 1-meter. Current < 3 knots.

Assessment
Assessment must be conducted by a minimum of one Level 2 Instructor Trainer and one Level 3 Instructor Trainer.
