Aim
To provide a national certification in the instruction and administration of Paddle Canada Sea Kayaking Level 1 skills course.

The Sea Kayaking Instructor Level 1 is certified to:

• Conduct Paddle Canada Flatwater and Level 1 Skills courses and to certify paddlers at those levels.
• Assist a Level 2 Instructor on a Level 2 skills course.
• Assist a Flatwater Instructor Trainer on a Flatwater Instructor course.

Prerequisites

• At least 18 years of age.
• Paddle Canada Sea Kayaking Level 2 skills certification.
• Paddling Experience: 30 days in Level 1 conditions (including overnights).
• Current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR (8 hours).

Course Length
4 days minimum

Class ratio
1 trainer: 6 participants
Staff must consist of at least one Sea Kayaking Level 1 Instructor Trainer

Sheltered waters with uninterrupted easy landing options.
