Lakewater Instructor Level 2
Aim
The purpose of the Lakewater Instructor 2 Course is to provide a national certification of competence in the instruction and administration of PC Lakewater Programs and Courses.
Upon successful completion of the Lakewater Instructor Level
2 course, the Instructor may:
- Certify Flatwater Level, Lakewater Level 1, and Lakewater Level 2 Programs and Courses in Canada, in accordance with PC and provincial/territorial affiliate association policies and standards, and in compliance with all laws governing such activities.
- Direct and
examine a Flatwater Instructor Course.
- Instruct at a Lakewater Instructor
1 or 2 Course, by invitation of the Course Director.
- Direct and examine a Lakewater Instructor 1 or 2 course, subsequent to instructing at a previous Lakewater Instructor Course at that level and with the approval of PC and provincial/territorial affiliate association.
A Lakewater Instructor is expected to promote the development of PC Lakewater Program, and to promote the development of Lakewater paddling as a separate discipline of recreational canoeing.
Prerequisites
- At least 18
years of age at the time of the Lakewater Instructor Level 1 Course.
- Current PC and provincial/territorial affiliate association memberships.
- PC Lakewater Level 2, equivalent certification, or comparable skills and experience (with the permission of the Course Director).
- PC Flatwater Instructor, equivalent certification, or comparable skills and experience (with permission of the Course Director).
- PC Lakewater Instructor 1, equivalent certification, or comparable skills and experience (with the permission of the Course Director).
It is strongly recommended that
all Lakewater Instructor 2 Instructors have, in addition to their canoeing qualifications,
some qualification in Swimming, First Aid, and CPR.
